Common questions.
Who is eligible for the NDIS?+
The NDIS supports people with a permanent and significant disability that affects their ability to take part in everyday activities. To be eligible, you must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or hold a Protected Special Category Visa; be under 65 when you first apply; live in Australia where the NDIS is available; and have a disability that is likely to be permanent and significant.
How is NDIS funding determined?+
Your NDIS funding is based on your personal needs. The amount and type of support depends on your goals, the nature of your disability, and how it affects your daily life. During your planning meeting, you will discuss your needs and a plan will be developed outlining the supports and funding you are entitled to.
How do I apply for the NDIS?+
There are three main steps: First, contact the NDIS or visit an NDIS partner in your community and provide evidence of your disability. Second, once confirmed eligible, you will work with an NDIS planner or Local Area Coordinator to develop your plan. Third, after your plan is approved, you choose the service providers that best meet your needs – and that is where Empower You Support Services can help.
Can I change my NDIS plan?+
Yes. If your circumstances change or you need different supports, you can request a review of your plan at any time.
What if I am not happy with my NDIS funding?+
You have the right to request a review of funding decisions, especially if you feel the support allocated does not meet your needs.
How long does the NDIS process take?+
The time from application to receiving support varies, but it generally takes several weeks to several months depending on individual circumstances.
